While crime drama series is a favorite genre of choice for a lot of people, there are plenty of options to choose from. With shows such as Criminal Minds, CSI, and Hawaii Five-O all following various parts of the policing team to solve the murders across the nation, one show that has definitely been able to put its own spin on the genre is NCIS. With the titles standing for Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the series explains itself as it follows an investigation team as they investigate crimes within the Marine Corps and U.S. Navy.
The show premiered in 2003 meaning it was one of the original series of its kind back in the day but is also one of the only shows to continue to date as it is currently airing its fifteenth season. It just missed out on the top spot for the longest airing scripted, real character primetime show in the U.S., but just missed out on being number one to Law & Order. Regardless of this, the show has gained a significant cult following over its twelve active years as it peaked at 21.34 million viewers in 2012 and 2013.
There have been many character changes over the years as there are now only five of the remaining original characters, with two rumored to be leaving at the end of this season. But with so many faces over the years, there have been more than 80 characters on the show to date. There have been some incredible women characters over the years, but what do they look like when they’re not on the show? Do they take their police badges home with them, or do they have a life outside of crime fighting once they return home? With some of the storylines getting the audience so involved in the show, some of the characters undergo incredible changes to get into the role.
