This game is played by riders riding on their respective horses. The field used for play varies, but the 60′ x 100′ field is a favorite of many leagues. Two poles are placed on opposite sides. Depending on the players, the post is set aside 12ft to 25ft.
The game aims to drive the ball to the goalposts. It’s quite similar to traditional soccer where any player can score a goal, but in this sport, it’s the horses that move the ball by pushing it with their front legs and score goals. The number of players in a team depends according to the format of the game. The ball used to play is a large inflated ball, similar to a gym ball, which is about 40″ wide. There is no limit to the style of riding, and both English and Western styles can be used.
The game is usually played by two or three players on each team. However, it can also be played with one to eight players per team. Game time varies between clubs but is usually played for two to fifteen minutes with a half an hour break in between.
