Mazda RX-9
Predicted Cost: $90,000
One of the best looking new cars in 2020 is without a doubt the Mazda RX-9. The automaker has been dabbling in sports cars for many years now but it appears that Mazda has truly decided to take the next step into what can be described as their first true supercar. With a sleek design and some incredible equipment under the hood, it looks like the RX-9 is slated to be one of the Japanese car manufacturers’ most impressive vehicles to date.
Originally announced in 2015 as the RX-Vision, Mazda quickly decided to change the name to the much more fitting and awesome-sounding RX-9. The car is slated for a January 2020 release, just in time for Mazda’s 100th anniversary, and would cost around $75,000 as a starting price. It’s strongly believed that the RX-9 will contain the legendary Mazda Wankel rotary engine, last used in the Mazda RX-8, as it uses an eccentric rotary design to turn pressure into a motion of rotation. Unfortunately, executives at the company have alluded that this may not be the case. Either way, this is shaping up to be one incredible sports car.
Kia Mohave
Predicted Cost: $39,232
The 2020 Kia Mohave is a large SUV that was recently revealed by Kia in South Korea during the Seoul Motor Show in the country's capital. The vehicle reveals an incredible design that has been completely revamped over previous generations, including quad LEDs in the headlight pods, a massive boxy appearance complemented by an extremely rugged look. Other new additions to the exterior include a new bumper design, a new bonnet, four exhaust tips and a beautiful wide LED tail-light with the bold Mohave design.
This beast is powered by a 191kW/560Nm 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6, although its reporter that 3.8 liter V6 and 4.6-liter V8 versions might be sold too. The safety features of the 2020 Mohave also received a serious upgrading, including a surround-view camera system, hill start assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and more. The Mohave is available now in South Korea with prices starting from $57,400 and can be purchased in five, six and seven-seat models.
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe
Predicted Cost: $39,000
BMWs 2020 2-Series Gran Coupe is going to be a major shift for the company in a few key aspects. First thing you should know about the new car is that it will be a front based sedan. This is a big deal because it’s the first time that BMW has ever sold a front-drive car of that kind in the United States. You can get the new 2 Series Gran Coupe in its 218i version, which includes a 138bhp 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder motor, and a diesel-engined 220d xDrive with 187bhp. Another option is the premium M235i model that packs a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol motor developing that outputs 302 horsepower.
The two models, which are mostly different in their engines, will go for $38,000 for the 228i xDrive and $48,000 for the M235i xDrive. You should expect great performance from the basic 228i engine, but nobody buys a BMW to compromise anyway. In-terms of features, you should expect the same great new tech that is introduced in the various 2020 BMW models such as lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, and pedestrian detection with automatic braking.
Cadillac Escalade
Predicted Cost: $75,195
The Cadillac Escalade is one of the world’s most luxurious and best-reviewed SUVs of all time. This humungous vehicle stands at massive dimensions of 204” long, 81” wide, and 74” tall. 6.2-liter V-8 delivers 420 horsepowers and allows it to go from zero to sixty in an unbelievable 6 seconds. It’s expected that the gas mileage on such a massive car would be quite steep and indeed, the Escalade burns 14 miles per gallon in the city and 23 on the highway.
The Escalade has been generally favored due to its strong engine and super-fast acceleration, its excellent towing abilities at 8,000 pounds, and a very comfortable plush interior that's common in most of Cadillac's lineup. It's a big and bold vehicle, and looks especially intimidating when you go for the black color. If you can get over the insane amount of fuel consumption, you'd be happy to get the 2020 Cadillac Escalade for $75,195 or the long-wheelbase version, called the Escalade ESV, for $78,195. This is truly one extraordinary large luxury SUV.
Polestar 3/4
Predicted Cost: $63,000/$155,000
When the Volvo Polestar 3 and 4 were first announced, they were being pre-ordered like no other car from the popular automaker. The Polestar 3 and 4 are part of a new line of groundbreaking cars Volvo is working on, both in their design and in their internal systems. With an all-electric engine and a fantastic 275 miles of range on a single charge, Volvo is truly positioning themselves to pioneer the electric cars market along with Elon Musk’s Tesla brand.
The company is as ambitious as ever and aims to have four of these vehicles already on the roads and in the hands of consumers by the end of 2020. Each of the four Polestars will be unique in their own way, and based on Volvo’s incredible track record for innovation in the tech and safety departments, we’re confident that these bad boys will blow away consumer’s minds.
